Schiecentrale

Schiecentrale Rotterdam – theatre setup in the main event hall

Schiecentrale is a monumental industrial event venue in Rotterdam's Lloydkwartier, a former harbour district a few minutes from the city centre. Built in 1904 as the city's first power station and now a national monument, the complex has been transformed into a creative hub, and its historic power hall is operated as an event location by Dudok Events.

The venue offers two large halls on the ground floor and two break-out rooms on the first floor, which can be used separately or combined into one programme. The Turbinehal, with its original hoist bridge, exposed brickwork and walkways, has a ceiling of around twelve metres and scaffold levels that give it the feel of an industrial theatre; it comes with a stage and a full technical installation and hosts plenary sessions, presentations and dinners for roughly 70 to 800 guests. The Megawatt is an open hall of about 1,000 square metres with great freedom in layout, suited to theatre setups, seated dinners and parties for up to 1,000 guests.

The Machinekamer and the Schakelruimte, each about 200 square metres, serve as break-out rooms for workshops, meetings and parallel sessions for groups of around 40 to 150, and are hired in combination with one of the main halls. Catering is provided in-house by Dudok, and basic furniture, sound, projection and a stage are available in the main halls. A full-day congress, a product launch, an exhibition, a gala dinner or a company party can all be staged here, and all halls can also be hired together for one event.

Schiecentrale sits on the Schiehaven at Sint-Jobsweg 116 and is easily reached by tram 8 from Rotterdam Centraal, by water taxi from the Sint-Jobshaven stop, or by car via the A4, A13 and A20 motorways; a Q-Park garage with around 400 spaces is part of the complex.
