Olofs Chapel - historic chapel interior in central Amsterdam
Olofs Chapel (Sint Olofskapel) is a historic event venue in the heart of Amsterdam, set in the oldest chapel in the city. Built in 1440 on the Zeedijk, it hosts conferences, receptions, galas, dinners and weddings for groups up to 520 guests.
Once a sacred place where sailors prayed before their voyages across the globe, the Gothic chapel was carefully restored and now blends its medieval character and exceptional acoustics with premium hospitality. It sits a few minutes' walk from Amsterdam Central Station, with a private entrance on the Zeedijk as well as direct access through the hotel lobby.
Olofs Chapel is part of the 5-star NH Collection Amsterdam Barbizon Palace, which restored the chapel and provides its gastronomic team and, via an underground passage, direct access to the hotel's 274 guest rooms for residential events.
The spaces
The main hall is the centrepiece, complemented by an intimate mezzanine and a foyer with cloakroom; rooms can be booked individually or combined. Per-room, per-setup figures are in the capacity chart on this page; in brief:
- St. Olofs Chapel (main hall): up to 380 reception, 300 theatre, 200 banquet - 353 m²
- Chapel + Mezzanine combined: up to 520 reception, 330 theatre, 250 banquet - 463 m²
- Mezzanine: up to 100 reception, 50 banquet - 110 m²
- Foyer (A + B): up to 200 reception, 110 theatre - 150 m²
Meetings & events
The venue suits everything from board meetings and multi-day conferences to fashion shows, gala dinners, product launches and weddings. A dedicated events team, together with the hotel's gastronomic team, arranges catering from light-bite receptions to multi-course dinners. For larger programmes, a further 12 meeting rooms are available in the adjoining NH Collection Amsterdam Barbizon Palace.
