Grote Kerk Den Haag

Grote Kerk Den Haag historic church interior set up for a business event

Grote Kerk Den Haag — officially the Grote of Sint-Jacobskerk — is one of the most iconic event venues in the Netherlands, instantly recognisable by its distinctive hexagonal tower rising above the historic heart of The Hague. Dating in its current form to the 15th century, this monumental former church offers more than 2,300 m² of dramatic, flexible space across several connected rooms, combining grandeur with genuine warmth and atmosphere — a rare combination that has made it a beloved venue for events of all kinds for more than 40 years.

The main Kerkzaal (church hall) is a vast and impressive space accommodating up to 1,650 guests, ideal as a backdrop for trade fairs, congresses, spectacular corporate parties or elegant gala dinners; its soaring columns, magnificent stained-glass windows and striking architectural details lend a stately atmosphere to any event. Adjacent and on a slight elevation sits the Hoogkoor, an equally atmospheric space that can be combined with the Kerkzaal for a single large event space accommodating up to 1,300 guests in theatre setup. For smaller and more intimate gatherings, the beautiful Van Assendelftkapel (70 m²) offers a chic, intimate setting for meetings, business lunches and receptions for 2 to 24 guests, while the Huygenskamer and other breakout rooms provide additional flexibility for workshops or parallel sessions.

Despite its monumental scale, Grote Kerk Den Haag is equipped with full modern comforts including underfloor heating, a professional catering kitchen and modern facilities. The venue regularly hosts everything from black-tie galas and silent discos to beer festivals and trade exhibitions, demonstrating a versatility matched by few other historic venues in the country — making it an unforgettable choice for international groups seeking genuine Dutch heritage at the centre of their event.
