de Doelen ICC Rotterdam

de Doelen ICC Rotterdam main concert and congress hall

de Doelen ICC Rotterdam is the Netherlands' largest concert and congress centre, located on Schouwburgplein in the heart of the city, just a two-minute walk from Rotterdam Centraal station. Originally built in 1934, destroyed in the 1940 bombardment of Rotterdam and rebuilt from 1966 onwards, de Doelen has earned both a national and international reputation as Rotterdam's central arena for music and the exchange of ideas, and was designated a Rijksmonument in 2015. Today it functions as a true dual-purpose venue: an internationally renowned concert hall and a state-of-the-art conference centre under one roof.

The building comprises over 30 rooms organised into three distinct complexes, each with its own entrance, foyer and breakout spaces, and each usable independently or in combination — making de Doelen uniquely flexible for events of 100 to 3,500 guests. The Grote Zaal complex (Grand Hall) is the flagship space, seating up to 1,755-2,190 in a concert-hall atmosphere, ideal for keynote presentations, plenary congress sessions and large-scale galas. The Willem Burger Zaal complex (up to 700) was purpose-built in 2000 specifically for conferences and corporate events, with a transparent, business-like design and extensive exhibition and catering space. The Jurriaanse Zaal complex (up to 465) offers an intimate conference hall with a spacious lobby, regarded as one of the finest chamber-music halls in the world. Seven additional studios — including a city lab and a radio studio — provide further breakout and meeting capacity.

The professional in-house events team at de Doelen works closely with every client to deliver flawless international congresses, symposia, corporate conferences and cultural galas, drawing on decades of experience hosting major (inter)national events.
