James Cook

James Cook - Spido event and charter ship in Rotterdam harbour

The James Cook is a modern event and charter vessel operated by Koninklijke Spido in Rotterdam, purpose-built for corporate receptions, incentive dinners and celebrations on the water in the heart of the city's historic harbour.

Named after the English explorer James Cook and in service since 2003, the ship measures 54 metres in length and carries up to 500 guests. Two spacious saloons are connected by a large central void, so guests on the upper deck can follow a show or presentation taking place on the lower deck, while a stately staircase links the two levels and a buffet lift rises through the floor to reveal a buffet or product launch in a striking way.

The interior is fully air-conditioned and can be arranged entirely around the size of the group and the programme, from a seated dinner to a standing reception. Access between the decks is provided by both the staircase and a lift, and adapted toilets are available, making the main saloons suitable for guests with reduced mobility.

Groups embark at the Spido pontoon on the Willemskade in Rotterdam, with departure directly afterwards and a harbour route arranged in consultation. With its flexible layout, two connected saloons and central Rotterdam mooring, the James Cook is a distinctive setting for MICE events, gala evenings and company celebrations.
