Proeflokaal Vesp sits on the Vespuccistraat in De Baarsjes, Amsterdam West, in a building that was once a Turkish supermarket and is now a food hotspot built around one idea: good food brings good people together. Founded by Floris Reurts, it describes itself as a proeflokaal by and for the neighbourhood, giving a stage to food initiatives and local cooks.
The room is deliberately homely and intimate — 32 seats, an open professional kitchen, a warm interior and a terrace, with wooden doors that swing wide onto the street in good weather.
For groups the offer is genuinely flexible. Private dining sees the chef prepare a surprise menu of local seasonal produce, served as a shared experience with a communal start so every course lands on the table at once. The whole proeflokaal — kitchen included — can be hired exclusively, and the team runs hands-on cooking workshops (roughly four hours, vegetarian-focused, working with local seasonal ingredients) that end with everyone eating what they've made together.
That mix makes Vesp a strong option for team events, work dinners, buy-outs and incentive evenings where a participatory, informal atmosphere beats a formal restaurant setting. Easily reached from the A10 (exit S105) and by tram or bus to Marco Polostraat.
