Restaurant AMA is an Italian restaurant on Burchtplein in the Vleuterweide district of Utrecht, presenting what the house calls a culinary journey through Italy with Naples as its point of departure.
The restaurant is officially recognised by the Accademia Italiana della Cucina, the cultural institute that safeguards authentic Italian gastronomy worldwide, and sits among the internationally recommended addresses it endorses. Its name carries the idea behind the whole operation, AMA e sarai amato, love and you shall be loved, and that runs through both the kitchen and the hospitality.
Guests dine beneath a painted ceiling and a sculptural chandelier, with arched windows, black-and-white photography and a long bar setting a polished, contemporary Italian tone. A covered terrace planted with greenery looks out over the water, and the whole building faces the quayside at Burchtplein.
The main restaurant seats 60 guests, the indoor conservatory 30, the outdoor conservatory another 30 and the first-floor lounge a further 30, giving a total seated capacity of 150 across the four spaces. A separate meeting room is available with a catering option, which makes the address workable for a daytime session followed by dinner in the same building.
Groups are welcomed from ten guests upwards with three, four and five-course dinner arrangements, built around signature plates such as the Flambata and Tartufo pasta finished in aged Parmigiano Reggiano with black truffle from Norcia, and the Filetto alla Rossini. Wine pairings are offered in three tiers, Selezione della Casa, Selezione Superiore and Selezione Limitata, the last drawn from a broader cellar on request. Beyond dinner the kitchen also runs high tea, high cocktail, tastings, workshops and Sunday brunches for private and corporate parties.
Access is straightforward for coach and self-drive groups alike, with free parking and more than 500 spaces within a five-minute walk, and the restaurant lying 3.9 kilometres from junction 15 De Meern on the A12.
