Maresia

Maresia is a lively Mediterranean wine & seafood bar on the Ganzenmarkt in the heart of Utrecht, opened in July 2025 by the Nieuwe Garde Horeca Groep. The name is Portuguese for the salt tang of sea air, and the whole room is built around that idea.

The interior, designed by King Kongs, takes guests on a deliberate journey: you enter through a light, sand-toned wine bar with a genuine beach feel, then move through a soft transition into the blue rear section — the seafood restaurant, styled as if stepping into the sea itself.

The kitchen serves no meat at all, focusing entirely on oysters, daily fresh fish, seafood and substantial vegetarian dishes — a Mediterranean journey from France to Morocco and Italy to Greece. Everything is designed to share. The wine list is fresh and Mediterranean-leaning, and on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings a DJ plays in the wine bar.

Open seven days a week from noon until midnight, Maresia suits group dinners, informal client entertaining and drinks receptions in Utrecht — particularly for groups with pescatarian and vegetarian requirements.

Groups & private dining

Maresia welcomes groups from 10 guests for a seated dinner, a drinks reception or a group lunch in the centre of Utrecht. The shared-dining format — oysters, daily fresh fish, seafood and generous vegetarian plates — keeps the table social, and the kitchen accommodates dietary needs and allergies on request.

For larger parties, a section of the restaurant or the entire venue can be reserved for private dining or exclusive hire — suited to corporate dinners and drinks receptions, team outings, network drinks, birthdays, anniversaries and celebrations.

The Ganzenmarkt location sits by the canal in the heart of the city, within walking distance of Utrecht Centraal station and nearby car parks.
