Hotel Flora Batava is an idyllic boutique hotel set within Buitenplaats de Vijverhof, a historic country estate on the banks of the river Vecht at Nieuwersluis, a short drive from Breukelen in the province of Utrecht. The estate traces its story to 1670, when Agnes Block founded the Vijverhof and became renowned for cultivating rare plants, among them the first pineapple to fruit in the Netherlands, an achievement that earned her the nickname Flora Batava.
