Hotel Flora Batava is an idyllic boutique hotel set within Buitenplaats de Vijverhof, a historic country estate on the banks of the river Vecht at Nieuwersluis, a short drive from Breukelen in the province of Utrecht. The estate traces its story to 1670, when Agnes Block founded the Vijverhof and became renowned for cultivating rare plants, among them the first pineapple to fruit in the Netherlands, an achievement that earned her the nickname Flora Batava. The monumental villa at the heart of the hotel is a protected national monument, and the grounds, gardens and waterside setting lend the whole property a sense of calm that feels a world away yet sits within easy reach of both Amsterdam and Utrecht, roughly twenty-five kilometres from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport.

The hotel offers forty-five rooms and suites, ranging from intimate Cosy Rooms through Comfort and Superior Rooms to Junior Suites and characterful Suites set within the historic villa, several with beamed ceilings, garden views or a private terrace. At its culinary heart is Restaurant Bloei, a Gault and Millau listed kitchen serving seasonal cooking in a glass-enclosed dining room overlooking the garden, complemented by a waterside tea house for intimate dinners and a private dining room for smaller gatherings.

For groups and incentive travel, Flora Batava combines genuine tranquillity with the full range of estate experiences, from boat trips on the Vecht and electric bike tours of the surrounding countryside to paddle boarding, walking and private dining. The hotel holds the Green Key sustainability certification, and its blend of history, nature and refined hospitality makes it a distinctive base for a retreat, celebration or incentive within half an hour of the Randstad's major cities.

Flora Batava is a beautiful and tranquil setting for meetings, brainstorming sessions, training days, celebrations and private events, where business groups can work undisturbed on a historic estate and then step straight out onto the gardens and the Vecht. The hotel offers three daylit meeting rooms, all quiet, filled with natural light and equipped with up-to-date technology, alongside a waterside tea house and a private dining room.

The largest room, Herolt, measures eighty square metres and seats up to fifty guests, while Merian offers seventy square metres for up to fifty, and the more intimate Withoos covers thirty-nine square metres for groups of up to fourteen. The tea house on the water adds a characterful forty-four square metre space for up to forty guests, and the private dining room seats up to thirty, with Restaurant Bloei able to host seated dinners for as many as eighty. Rooms can be arranged in theatre, classroom, U-shape and carre layouts to suit the occasion.

Programmes can be built around overnight stays in the hotel's forty-five rooms and suites, seasonal dining in Restaurant Bloei and a wealth of on-site activities, from boat trips on the Vecht with or without a skipper to paddle boarding, cycling and walking in the surrounding countryside. The estate's blend of seclusion, history and refined service has made it a chosen venue for leading organisations, and its position within roughly twenty-five kilometres of Amsterdam Schiphol Airport keeps it convenient for international groups.
